ScreenFlow terms

Position

A tool for moving clips in the timeline without affecting other clips.

What is a position in ScreenFlow?

A position in ScreenFlow refers to the specific location of an element or object within the video editing workspace. This could be a video clip, an audio file, a text box, an image, or any other type of media that you can add to your project. The position is determined by coordinates on the X (horizontal) and Y (vertical) axes, with the origin (0,0) being the top left corner of the workspace.

You can manually adjust the position of an element by selecting it and dragging it to the desired location, or by entering specific coordinates in the properties panel. This allows for precise control over the layout and composition of your project. The position of an element in ScreenFlow can also be keyframed, allowing it to move over time within the video.

How to change the position of a clip in ScreenFlow?

To change the position of a clip in ScreenFlow, you first need to select the clip you want to move. You can do this by clicking on the clip in the timeline. Once the clip is selected, you can drag it to the desired position in the timeline. If you want to move the clip to a different track, you can drag it up or down to the desired track.

In addition to dragging and dropping, you can also use the Position controls in the Video Properties pane to adjust the position of the clip. This pane allows you to adjust the X and Y coordinates of the clip, effectively moving it around the screen. You can also adjust the scale and rotation of the clip from this pane. Remember to deselect the clip once you're done to prevent any accidental changes.

How to adjust the position of text or images in ScreenFlow?

In ScreenFlow, adjusting the position of text or images can be done through the properties panel. First, select the text or image you want to adjust by clicking on it. Once selected, the properties panel will appear on the right side of the screen. This panel contains several tabs including video, audio, screen recording, callout, touch callout, annotations, text, and media library.

To adjust the position, go to the video tab if you're adjusting an image, or the text tab if you're adjusting text. In these tabs, you'll find the position controls. You can manually enter the desired position in the X and Y fields, or you can click and drag the image or text in the preview window to your desired location. You can also adjust the scale or rotation of the image or text in the same tab. Remember to save your changes before exiting the program.

How to fix the position of a video in ScreenFlow?

To fix the position of a video in ScreenFlow, you need to use the video properties panel. First, select the video clip you want to fix the position of in the timeline. Once the clip is selected, navigate to the video properties panel on the right side of the screen.

In the video properties panel, you will see options for scale, position, and rotation. To fix the position of the video, you need to adjust the X and Y coordinates under the 'Position' section. You can either manually enter the desired coordinates or use the up and down arrows to adjust the position. Once you have set the position, the video will remain fixed at that spot in the timeline. Remember to save your changes before exiting the program.
