What is a screen recorder?

A screen recorder is a software that allows you to record what you’re looking at on your screen in real time. There are different screen recorder tools for your phones or computers. You may find yourself wanting to record your phone or computer screen when trying to make a how-to video, show someone what you’re doing on your device, or record a presentation that you intend to send to someone. Whatever your reason, knowing how to record your screen efficiently starts with having the right tools.

How to start recording your screen:

From the Tella recorder, pick the screen you want to capture. You can share your whole screen or just one tab. Once you have what you want to record, press the red button that says, “Start recording.” You’ll get a three-second countdown so you can prepare yourself, and then you can get on your way. You can pause the recording at any time and pick up where you left off in another one.

Once you have all your recorded clips, you can stitch them together, editing out any parts and rerecording where necessary. Along with trimming and re-recording clips, you can also change the background of your recording or the layout if you decide you record yourself on the webcam as well.

When you’re recording is perfect and you’re ready to share, or download it, just click “Finish.” You’ll be redirected to the page your viewers will see if you share your recording. There, you’ll be able to share it with a link, export it, embed it, and more. In case you have any last-minute thoughts, you can always go back to edit it again.

How do I record my phone screen on my computer?

Go into the Tella app, sign up or log in, click “New video” and start, then click “Start recording” on your computer screen. Then go to your phone and open its screen mirroring settings. On iPhones, you just pull down from the top of your screen. On Android, open the 'Wireless Display' application. Your computer should pop up in the menu. Once you select it, your phone screen should take over your screen. Then you can begin recording in the Tella app.

How do I video record on my laptop?

Sign up or log in to the Tella app. Then click “New video,” and you’ll come to a recording window where you choose what screen to share on your laptop. From there, you can click “Start recording” in the app and begin making a recording of whatever you’re seeing on your screen.

Is there a Chrome extension?

The Tella app has a Chrome extension that only requires two clicks to start recording. You can capture all the clips you want and stitch them together afterwards, so your video is perfect. Once finished, you can share a link to your video, export it, embed it, or more.
